Come and visit HOFOR’s combined heat and power plant, also known as Amagerværket, and see how we produce district heating in Copenhagen – district heating that we are constantly striving to make greener.
Would you like to visit Amagervaerket? The visit provides technical and professional insight into the production of district heating. It cannot be booked as an excursion – we offer a limited number of visits for educational institutions, relevant stakeholders, etc, and it is not currently possible for private groups to visit.
- Your visit begins with an introduction to the Amager power station and its role in the Copenhagen energy system.
- You will then get a guided tour of Amagerværket’s new power plant block, which is fired with sustainably certified biomass.
- The tour allows you to experience the many large and technical installations involved in the production of district heating and electricity.
- The tour ends at Amagerværket’s viewing platform, where you can enjoy a magnificent view over northern Amager, the Øresund strait and Copenhagen.
The visit takes two hours in all.
A visit to Amagerværket is not recommended if you have a fear of heights
We cannot recommend the tour for people with a fear of heights (acrophobia), as much of the route is on a grated floor, which you can see through.
