Visit HOFOR: Energy & CO2-neutrality

Get to explore the energy production and supply in relation to CO2 neutrality for Copenhagen.

Through databased storytelling you will get an understanding of the global development of population growth, city development and global emissions and its implications for energy production and CO2 neutrality. You will be introduced to Copenhagen’s Climate plan and the Municipality of Copenhagen’s goal of becoming the first CO2 neutral capital by 2025, together with the definition of CO2 neutrality and the different focus areas of the Climate plan.

HOFOR’s integrated utility system will be highlighted as a base for transforming the energy and heat production of Copenhagen. Chose a sub-theme to decide which technologies should be further explored.

You can choose between two sub-themes:

  1. District heating and district cooling
  2. Wind, solar, gas and power-to-X

District heating and district cooling:

You will get to explore biomass as an energy source in relation to the sustainable transformation of the district heating system, together with other technologies in the district heating system and how district cooling is part of the effective and integrated utility system of Copenhagen.

Wind energy, solar energy, gas and power-to-X:

This subtheme will focus on the challenges with and solutions to a utility system based on renewable energy sources. You will get to explore the term Power-to-X and what the role of energy storage and conversion have in the development of HOFORs utility system, including implementation of technologies like wind, solar, bio- and city gas and heat pumps.
