Renewable energy – Wind Power

Production of renewable energy is an essential condition for the realization of the objective of the City of Copenhagen to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025.

wind power

HOFOR’s Renewable Energy Department was established in 2010 with the objective of establishing more than 100 on- and offshore wind turbines in Copenhagen and beyond with a total capacity of approximately 360 MW by 2025.

From 2010 to 2015, HOFOR listed and contracted around 65 MW onshore wind turbines. Our current operational portfolio represents approximately 40 MW onshore wind turbines or 14 wind turbines, three of which are located at Prøvestenen in Copenhagen.

HOFOR wants wind farms which are rooted in the local community, and approximately 30% of our wind farms are owned by local neighbours. Wind turbine shares are sold so they correspond to an annual output of 1,000 kWh.
