The City of Copenhagen aims to become the world´s first carbon-neutral capital by 2025, and HOFOR works towards achieving this goal every day through a wide range of initiatives.

We are currently converting the Amagerværket power station from fossil fuels to biomass, having invested DKK 5.2 billion in a new CFB unit to be completed in 2020.

We are investing more than DKK 500 million in replacing the last section of the steam-based district heating network with more energy-efficient, water-based district heating. We began this process in the 1990s and expect to complete it in 2021.

We are also reducing the energy and water loss in the district heating grid using tinted water to detect leaks faster, and we advise companies and individuals on energy savings.
